I am struggling to find the best pen for book signings. A ballpoint? A felt tip? A permanent marker? I have been reading a couple of online posts to glean some advice.
One valuable post is from Lucy Williams’s blog at The Pen Company. Here’s a link. She has a section on “Autographs on paper and photographs” that I have found insightful. In this section, she describes the need to protect signatures from smearing and fading, and she thus recommends oil-based paint pens or permanent markers containing acid-free ink for visibility and longevity.
She recommends two pens: the Staedtler Lumocolour permanent marker or the Schneider Maxx 270 paint marker.
I am undecided at this point and open to other suggestions.
