Yesterday, I received my Summer 2024 issue of The Bent, the quarterly publication of the Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi. I enjoy perusing this magazine and other professional society publications to read alumni notes, technical articles, and general news about engineering. It’s a nerd thing.
As a side note, I had to polish a red brass “bent” as an undergrad at Tennessee Tech (Tennessee Gamma chapter) as part of the indoctrination into Tau Beta Pi. It’s a right of passage that requires some serious elbow grease to hew down the rough surfaces of the cast material into a more presentable polished surface.

The exciting part of this quarter is that the magazine had a section (page 19) called “Authors.” This page describes six different books authored by Tau Beta Pi alumni. Pretty cool, eh? The page also gave instructions on how to submit a book for inclusion in future issues.
So, I sent a description and cover image for “The Art of the Compromise!” Fingers crossed! Let’s see if it makes the cut for the Fall 2024 edition!
